Advanced Liquid Glucosamine
Skybright’s Advanced Glucosamine dietary supplement may help support the maintenance of joint cartilage and connective tissues needed for joint health and mobility. Natural glucosamine levels decrease as people age and this can lead to joints becoming susceptible to ‘wear and tear’ and these joints may undergo degenerative changes.
Normally, after a few months of relief, many people are able to reduce the level of glucosamine that they need, to a smaller, but still effective maintenance dose. Sometimes this may be reduced to as little as half the original dose. Generally, people will continue to take the maintenance dose for several months up to a full year, or until they no longer feel a need for it.

The delivery vehicle: Glucosamine Hydrochloride or Sulphate?
The active ingredient in any glucosamine product is the glucosamine element. The hydrochloride or sulphate acid is just the delivery vehicle. Therefore, the amount of glucosamine present in 1500 mg of glucosamine supplement will depend on the amount of ‘vehicle’ present and whether additional salts are included in the supplement.
Why should you use Glucosamine Hydrochloride over Glucosamine Sulphate?
The content of other salts affects the dosage needed to achieve the right amount of glucosamine. For example, to achieve an intake of 1500mg of glucosamine you would need to consume around 2000mg of glucosamine sulphate versus of 1500mg of glucosamine hydrochloride. This is because glucosamine hydrochloride is naturally stable and requires no added salt or other preservatives. Simply put, glucosamine hydrochloride provides the same benefits as that of glucosamine sulphate but because of stability and purity it is actually more efficient and better value in the sense that it delivers the actual amount of glucosamine as stated on the product label.
Low sodium content
The hydrochloride form of glucosamine is more concentrated than the sulphate form and contains substantially less sodium per effective dose. Glucosamine sulphate is stabilised with sodium chloride – more commonly known as table salt – and can contain as much as 30% sodium. Given that we are advised to reduce our salt intake, this is a consideration for individuals who want or need to reduce their dietary intake of sodium.
Fewer side effects
Some people may experience side effects from glucosamine supplements. Studies have revealed glucosamine hydrochloride has the greatest compound purity of the major glucosamine supplements and may therefore have far less side effects.
Effective pain relief
Glucosamine hydrochloride promises to be just as effective as glucosamine sulphate because glucosamine isn’t absorbed intact with its carrier. The body doesn’t care how it gets glucosamine as long as it’s available.
