We decided upon Wellwishers Trust as our charity to support.
What is the aim of WellWishers Trust?
Wellwishers builds new wells in villages of Africa. Currently women walk 3 hours on average every day, each collecting 4 litres of heavily polluted water from sources shared with defecating livestock. 20% of children under the age of 5 are dying through drinking polluted water. WellWishers focuses on providing funds to construct hand dug water wells in Tigray Province, Ethiopia. These new wells will save childrens lives by eliminating water borne diseases, extend the current average life expectancy of 41, reduce womens times to collect water by about 3 hours every day, allow girls to have an education instead of collecting water, facilitate the harvesting of large crop, and reduce domestic influence. WellWishers also provides training and bookeeping skills to Water and Sanitation Committee to maintain the wells.
